Thaddeus has spent years in hiding, fashioning a plan to further his power on Earth. His aim is to capture and use those with unique DNA, namely his fellow Pleiadeans, to create anarchy and secure his dominance over the humans. And although the central conflict revolves around Thaddeus's return and his ambitious dark experiments, Thaddeus remains unaware of an opposing adversary set on thwarting his schemes.

The Guards of Haven have been watching and waiting for the opportunity to get someone on the inside of Thaddeus’s organization, and now they have. Lyndon is what’s known as the ‘Heart’ component, a blend of courage, compassion, and rage that will make the difference. He has done whatever he had to do to keep his son Taylor safe, and now he has become a faithful ally to The Guards in their movement to take Thaddeus down.

With the help of Nic’s embellished resume, Lyndon had secured him an interview with Thaddeus for the lab assistant's job. It was Lyndon’s idea to get Nic hired to assist with the latest experiments, but as it stands, getting him through the door may have been the only successful part of their plan. Nic may be bigger and stronger than Thaddeus, and fully trained in close-contact combat, but locked behind the door he was so eager to get through, his current predicament is going to take brains over brawn to manipulate his way out.

While the plan against Thaddeus continues to unfold, Zuriel has been safely tucked away in a new location, with a new job, new friends, and the love of a human female—a life he never once dreamed was possible. What more could he ask for?

Like the moral in the story of The Tortoise and the Hare, “Slow and steady wins the race,” while pride and overconfidence can lead to downfall. Lynn, who is courageous in her own right, tends to embrace vulnerability while aligning her core values rather than staying in comfort, and continues to move forward regardless of fear, not waiting for it to fade. She has aided her newest friends, The Guards and the Earthbound, on numerous endeavors; however, her latest assist is a theory of her own making, one that with Grier’s help could potentially restore Zuriel’s wings and make him whole again. For now, Lynn’s greatest endeavor is the challenge of raising her twin teenage girls.
